File archive for darknet.org.uk

This domain serves one thing: archived copies of software referenced by articles on darknet.org.uk. It is run by the same person who runs that site. Nothing else is here, and nobody else uploads to it.

Why the files are here and not there

darknet.org.uk has published about security tools since 2006. For a number of them the original distribution has gone — the author stopped, the project site went down, or the vendor disappeared — and what remains here is the copy that was mirrored alongside the article at the time. Whether other copies survive elsewhere is not something this archive can know or claim.

Those files are served here rather than from the main site so that file delivery is separated from the publication. They are static objects on dedicated storage. The articles stay where they were.

What these files are

They are old, unsigned binaries and source files, most abandoned by their authors. Several are password crackers, exploit proofs of concept or virus source published alongside articles about them. Antivirus software will flag a number of them, and it is not wrong to — that is what they are.

These files are preserved for historical research and authorised security testing. Use them only on systems you own or have explicit permission to test. Nothing here is maintained, patched or supported, and some of it targets vulnerabilities patched fifteen years ago.

Provenance

Every file below is the copy darknet.org.uk was already serving. Each was checksummed before it moved and verified byte-for-byte afterwards — the SHA-256 shown is that value, so you can confirm what you download is what was archived.

Where a file is password-protected, the password is given in the article it belongs to. Verify a download with sha256sum <file>, or Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256 on Windows.

Indexing

This page is indexable; the files are not. The page exists so that anyone assessing this domain — a reader, a security vendor, a hosting provider — can find out what it is, which is impossible if it is hidden from search. The objects carry X-Robots-Tag: noindex, because a search result pointing straight at an unsigned binary helps nobody.

Contact

If you maintain a listed project, own the relevant rights, or believe a file is unsafe or improperly archived, get in touch via the darknet.org.uk contact page with the filename and the basis for the request. It will be investigated promptly, and the file may be removed or corrected.
